What is a Club Coach?

A club coach is an experienced Toastmaster who coaches a club to rebuild membership and rejuvenate the club environment. The goal of a coach is to help the club achieve recognition in the Distinguished Club Program, which is accomplished by:

  • Building rapport with club leaders and members
  • Instilling enthusiasm, comradery and structure within the club
  • Assessing the club environment and recommending best practices for success
  • Working with club leaders to develop a Club Success Plan
  • Encouraging the club to strive for Distinguished Club Program recognition

Clubs are eligible for club coach appointment provided the following requirements are met:

  1. The club must have at least one but no more than 12 paid members at the time of appointment.
  2. The club must not be suspended or closed.
  3. The club must not have more than two coaches appointed at one time.

To be eligible for appointment as a Club Coach, you must:

  1. Be a paid member in good standing with Toastmasters International.
  2. Not be an existing member of the club at the time of appointment.

What is a Club Mentor?

An experienced Toastmaster in good standing who provides guidance to a new club for a minimum of six months after its charter date. Each new club may have up to two mentors as appointed by the District Director or Club Growth Director.

What is the role of a new club mentor?

As a new club mentor, you will share your expertise on the best practices of running a club with a newly formed club. Your responsibility is not to run the club but to let it know its options and guide it toward excellence.

What is a Club Sponsor?

A Club Sponsor is an experienced Toastmaster who possesses leadership skills, passion for Toastmasters, and a strong sense of dedication to helping charter a new club.

Sponsors assist with organization of the new club, including marketing the “Wow” factor utilized to sell the value of Toastmasters to prospective club members. Sponsors also help set up regular meeting agendas and roles, and assist in completing the new club’s charter paperwork. Most fun of all, sponsors help the new club plan its charter party!

What is the time commitment for Club Sponsor?

  • Participate in the Demo meeting with the rest of the Club Growth Director’s team
  • Meet with, either in person or remotely, with the individuals trying to get a club started
  • Keep the Club Growth Director informed about the progress toward getting the club chartered
  • Attend the organizational meetings with the interested parties
  • Prepare the paperwork required to charter a new club
  • Attend the first several meetings of the new club and offer encouragement and suggestions
