Calling ALL Bloggers, Podcasters, Social Media Enthusiasts, and Newscasters

One of the best ways to grow and support our clubs is to get the word out about Toastmasters.  As this year’s District Public Relations Manager, I have been working to put some new things in place to ensure that Toastmasters, especially our district, gets out to the public.

Now, I need your help to ensure these continue and expand.  We have several social media platforms, a website, and a need to get our district’s members and clubs out into news stories.  There are several opportunities for you to help, both direct and indirect. Some of the opportunities will help you gain credit in Pathways as well.

Here are direct ways I feel we can create a mutually beneficial service to our district:

  • Bloggers: If you have been visiting our district website, you will notice that it has changed.  We have moved to a WordPress site, which means that we now have a blog that can be updated regularly.
    • If you are interested in completing the Write a Compelling Blog project, we can use your help.
    • The topics of your blog posts must be related to Toastmasters. Examples include, but are not limited to communication, leadership, listening, your experience with Toastmasters clubs, your experience with Pathways, your experience with club coaching, and mentoring.
  • Podcasters: As stated above, we now have a platform to help you and our district at the same time.
    • If you are interested in completing the Create a Podcast project, we can use your help.
    • The topics of your podcasts must be related to Toastmasters (either video or audio only). Examples include, but are not limited to communication, leadership, listening, your experience with Toastmasters clubs, your experience with Pathways, your experience with club coaching, and mentoring.
  • Facebookers, Twitterers, YouTubers, Instagramers, and LinkedIn(ers): We have a presence on all these platforms, and it is very difficult for one person to ensure all are kept updated.
  • Newscasters: Okay, so not quite newscasters, but it fit with my titles.  Part of public relations within Toastmasters is getting the information out in news releases.  This can be done at the club level, area, division, and district level.  It can even be done by locals.

All of the above categories is available for multiple people.  Do not be afraid that “there is probably already someone asking to help, so I’m not going to be able to.”  The more members we have helping the more diverse information we will have, and the better quality we will provide over all.

If you are interested in helping promote our district and clubs using the above projects, please email me at [email protected].  Send an email if you are interested in more information or have any questions, too.

Not interested in using the projects to help?  No problem.  You can still help us promote our district and clubs through indirect ways.

Comment and Share

Due to the many technical terms and reasons I could give you; the social networking platforms, website, and YouTube promotions do not get much benefit from simply clicking the “like” button.

In order to help us spread our message better, we ask that you comment on and/or share the posts.  This will help our “reach” to prospective members and those outside of Toastmasters.

These are the ways you can help the district while completing projects from a public relations perspective.  There are many other ways you can help the district, while completing projects in Pathways.

Thank you for your help.

Please feel free to email me with any questions or comments.

Thank you,
