Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a District leader:
During my year as Area Director, I worked closely with other Area Directors and Division Directors, especially during speech contest season in 2024. Communication is essential at all levels to ensure a smooth year..
What experience do you have in strategic planning?
I am the Director of IT for the Lenny’s Grill & Subs franchisee system. I have been involved in many strategic planning sessions and lead projects to help our franchisees and our corporate team. In Toastmasters, we develop plans to improve our club and to retain/gain members.
What experience do you have in the area of finance?
I work from a budget to maintain expenses monthly. I have also worked in other club organizations as the treasurer and club leader.
What experience do you have in developing procedures?
I develop procedures for our technology, from the store level to the corporate level. It is important to have a team to assist in developing procedures as well as to implement those processes’
What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?
To lead you must know your team. During my time as Area Director it was important for me to attend club meetings under my area at least once a month. If there was an event, I tried my best to attend baring any constraints from my professional obligations.
Why do you want to serve as a District leader?
I have found that my confidence as leader continues to grow. By taking this next step my journey to understand my leadership style and my improvement as a communicator will grow even more.
In your opinion, what are the District mission’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them?
It is essential to build new clubs in order for the district to grow. It is also essential for division directors to support their clubs towards achieving excellence. Clubs may not necessarily know what is required to achieve excellence. We have officer training that helps with this goal and additional education meetings have been made available. I just think many Toastmasters, especially new members, are missing out on opportunities to learn and grow.
Additional information about yourself:
I am concerned if I will have the time to devote to this level of leadership. My professional job does have priority. I also have some non-Toastmasters personal goals that I am working on. I do believe leaders in this district truly care and are dedicated to their roles.
