Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a District leader: 

I am a Contract Specialist with the Army Corps of Engineers, and I worked as a Bank Branch Manager for 5 years previous. For both of these positions I have fine-tuned my organizational and management skills and will use what I have learned’ within Toastmasters. 

What experience do you have in strategic planning? 

My work with the Corps is centered around strategic planning. I have worked within various aspects of the strategic planning timeline from pre award through post award. 

What experience do you have in the area of finance? 

I have always been drawn to finance and numbers and both of my most recent careers express that in different ways. Banking – working with the public and their funds; CORPS – working with government contracts for the defense of our nation. 

What experience do you have in developing procedures? 

I create procedures and checklists to facilitate processes all the time at my job. 

What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions? 

Leadership is about showing up and doing your best every day. I strive to lead by example in achieving excellence in all that I do. 

Why do you want to serve as a District leader? 

I love Toastmasters and would like to serve as Division Director as a way to give back for all of the value I have received within Toastmasters. 

In your opinion, what are the District mission’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them? 

The District’s mission is to build new clubs and help all clubs achieve excellence. I would work to achieve this mission by first, continuing my personal Toastmaster journey, and then second, helping my clubs achieve their goals toward  achieving excellence. 

Additional information about yourself: 

Born and raised in Minnesota; have lived in MN, WI, TN, GA, and AL. I have 3 adult children (1 daughter; 2 sons) 5 grandchildren (3 granddaughters, 1 deceased granddaughter, and 1 grandson (newly born).
